We’ve chosen a few big floats for Portland Pride Parade!
Each of these floats will be inflated ahead of the parade and deflated soon after the end of the parade. To keep the inflatables aloft, we’re looking for fursuiters and other furries to help hold them aloft! The parade route is about 1 mile in length and takes about 30 minutes to complete but we may have to wait 2-4hrs near the start of the parade before we begin to move.
Register here if you’d like to join us. The $20 fee is to help cover rental busses to take us to an after-parade gathering and headless lounge. If you are a GOTF Staff Member or Volunteer, let Baphnedia or Reid (via Telegram) know once you have registered and a voucher can be applied.
Introducing…
A rainbow serpent to lead the way! This is about 15’x15′ and we think about 8 people can easily carry down the street and need an additional 8 people as backup/replacements. (Designed by Emil Leidy)
A 7m purple people eater (gator). This inflatables is able to be carried by 3-4 people down the street plus a backup group of 3-4 extra fursuiters.
6m Inflatable Peacock (can’t find a lot of good images online). This creature provides the best shade of all three large floats that we’re bringing. We’ll need six fursuiters to carry this one as well as have a backup team of six more fursuiters.
We’ll have bottled water either in our vehicle or on the trailer we’re pulling. Anyone not fursuiting is welcome to help us; we are looking for fursuit handlers, toysitters (dedicated to looking after the toys, 1 per toy), photographers, videographers, and contingent supervisors (1 per 25 ppl) as needed. Ideally we’d want about 36 people in total to help carry the inflatables.
Looking forward to seeing you there; we have not heard of furries participating in Pride quite like this before!
