Get Out The Float has started a fundraiser on Go Fund Me for us to buy our own bouncy castles! If you hadn’t heard, this year was a doozy when it comes to castles.
The goal is to raise $4,000.00.

About the Fundraising:
One of the biggest things inflating the registration prices of Get Out The Float year after year is the cost of bouncy castle rentals for our convention. This year we had several serious near-misses with rented equipment that removed three castles from service. In addition, getting the castles that were usable clean enough for fursuiters resulted in two minor injuries to our dedicated staff and two sore Achilles tendons for our convention chair. We overworked ourselves getting the castles into a usable state, which had other consequences down the line that made the convention more difficult to run.
It is no longer worth it to us rely on bouncy castle rental companies to have their castles be ready to use. We are still a small enough convention that spending tens of thousands of dollars on our own castles & related equipment is completely outside our normal budget. We are planning to buy new equipment, similar to “measure twice, cut once” or “buy properly and cry once, buy cheap and cry twice.” In the long run, this will also reduce costs for the convention; the costs of storing and transporting castles is less than the cost of renting castles in a given year.
